Organization: Open Sky Co-operative
working with a Speech Language Pathologist, using methods developed through TEACCH, building upon previous psychological and educational testing, and through our own experiences, Open Sky can provide a thorough measure of both the underlying and obvious skills required for good decision-making, comprehension of instructions (verbal and written), accomplishment of tasks and ability to progress in areas that increase independent living and employment. Also provided is a roadmap and educational plan for addressing any skills gaps to achieve reasonable goals and outcomes. The testing is carried out onsite at Open Sky. The final report can be ready within 3 weeks. Open Sky also provides skills training associated with this assessment, using effective methods and approaches within our Day Skills-building Programs and Residential Supports programs.
An application form must be filled out and submitted. All applications will be kept confidential, and be reviewed by the Admissions Committee that includes Open Sky staff, a retired Social Worker and a Certified Psychologist. An interview with the individual and their family or caregiver may be required before a program can be proposed for the individual. Applications and enquiries are welcome year-round.
